Research Projects
Long-term initiatives focused on building open-source tools, standardized datasets, and analytical frameworks for the chess community.
Open Chess Data Standard (OCDS)
An initiative to standardize how chess research data is formatted. We are developing a JSON schema that extends PGN to include psychological metadata (move times, heart rate, eye tracking) for cross-study compatibility.
Maia-Psych Bot
Training a specialized version of the Maia chess engine to predict "human error" rather than "best move." This project aims to create a training partner that replicates the specific blunder patterns of 1500-rated players.
Tilt-Meter Analytics
Developing a browser extension that analyzes live play on Lichess/Chess.com to detect signs of "tilt" (emotional decision making) in real-time, alerting players to take a break.
